These Sesame Asian Balls can be dangerous, point being – they’re bite sized pieces of heaven! You pop one, two, three in your mouth and before you know it the batch has dwindled down considerably. Normally, this would be bad for you, but this recipe is completely plant-based making this a no-guilt dessert. Let’s talk about some of the amazing health benefits you’ll get just by indulging your sweet tooth:
Raisins – To the untrained eye raisins may appear.. how should I say.. weird. Their dark, shriveled, pruny exterior is not it’s former grape glory, but I think you’ll find them the perfect go-to snack. Raisins have been found to help with gastrointestinal issues as well as serve most symptoms in the body. The next time you’re craving candy try a raisin instead, and take into consideration the following health benefits that they offer – Raisins promote mouth health, bone health, protect the eyes, treats infection, reduces body acidity, and is cancer preventing! If that’s not enough to convince you there are only 100 calories in a 1/2 cup of raisins! Snack away, my friends.
Sesame Seeds – Open sesame! Did you know the sesame seed is one of the oldest known medicinal plants still used today? It’s history as a medicine goes back 3600 years to Egyptian times where it was listed in the scrolls of the Ebers as a favored medicine! Also, women in ancient Babylon were believed to use a mixture of honey and sesame seeds (havla) to prolong youth and beauty, and Roman soldiers ate the mixture for strength and energy.. talk about a historical seed! Here are a few diseases that the sesame seed has been linked to for it’s preventative qualities – Lung/ Pancreatic/ Breast/ Prostate Cancer, Multiple Myleoma, and Leukemia. Eat up, and stay healthy!

Hi Vanessa, thank you for posting this recipe… Am really looking forward to making it. Tell me, what can be used as substitutes for brown rice syrup, and can I use chopped dates instead of raisins? Thanks again.
Hi Bena! You can use maple syrup instead of brown rice syrup but use a bit less because the consistency is thicker with maple syrup. Dates instead of raisins are great as well!
I’m excited for you to try this recipe, it’s delicious 🙂
