Kids say the darndest things!

Kids say the darndest things…Last night while tucking Bella in to bed, I had to giggle inside when she said “Mommy so an so has the most horrendous diet” she went on to explain that the child had packed a cheese lunchable and nerd candies for lunch. She said “Mommy I don’t think your brain can work at its best when you feed it junk…I wish all the mommies would take your classes and know better things to pack for their kids lunches to make them super smart and healthy.”

Aahhhh…..from the mouths of little babes…I can’t pay for that kind of advertising! 

I think the take home point here is that kids really do learn by the examples that we as parents set. I can almost guarantee you that if I as a parent were condoning a standard american style diet, my daughter would have thought that this particular lunch was an absolutely fine choice and there would have been no conversation about it. I know that as parents we often pick our battles carefully and unfortunately a healthy diet tends to be low on the totem pole. I know from my experience the very best gift that you can give your growing child besides love is a healthy plant strong minimally processed diet.  The foundation that you set now will be there for a lifetime.
