Vegan fine dining at Sara Weiner in Berlin Germany
One of my most memorable meals in Germany was definitely the meal my daughter and I shared at the Sara Weiner restaurant just a stones throw away from her apartment. We had to book almost a week out because this little gem is definitely a hotspot! Brittany had eaten here several times before so when we went in to book reservations the waitress recognized her and was happy to request a special 4 course vegan meal for me to enjoy!

I asked our waitress to share with me a bit about Sara and the restaurants that she owns. She described Sara as the Jamie Oliver of Germany and Austria.
She said that she uses only organics when possible and that her restaurants are “green” and known as environmentally friendly.

We started our meal with a delicious glass of German Riesling that tasted like perfection…not to sweet and perfectly chilled. The starter course was a delicious thinly sliced beet salad topped with a sort of dry seaweed with an orange vinegar drizzled on it.

Our next course was a delicious chilled arugula,fennel and endive salad with a type of pale pink carrot that tasted very similar to a turnip. This salad was so delicious.

I also enjoyed a piece of delicious vegan brown bread with the meal that tasted like it was just pulled out of the oven:)
My main attraction was about the best healthy but absolutely divine barley mushroom and mango risotto topped with mixed greens that I have ever eaten!

We finished the evening with a bowl of chilled fruit wine soup…pieces of cut strawberries danced in the bowl of fruit verbena garnished with the perfect piece of mint:)

As we ended our meal I reflected … This had been the perfect evening… an excellent meal with intimate conversation and the best part……shared between a mother and her daughter.

As we were leaving our waitress made sure to let us know that anytime we wanted to come back they would be happy to create new vegan tasting menus for me each time…now that is first class service!
